The selective restoration of this ocean front home pays homage to its nautical environment. The study in particular was designed to emulate the pilothouse of a ship; the ceiling resembles the ribs of the inner carcass of a boat hull; materials like holly, teak and mahogany replicate boat materials; to amplify the effect. Yacht designer Joe Artese provided authentic yachting details in millwork and trim.
Perhaps we could have these counters along the glass so the children could do their homework / art etc. whilst I am in the kitchen. The glass is substantial and will need an impressive and effective blind to cut out the afternoon glare!
