A smaller shower will always warm up faster than a larger once since it is a smaller space to heat...but that being said I don't think I will ever have a shower smaller than 4' x 5', anything smaller just feels too cramped for a master bathroom in my opinion.

Making the walk in closet into a shower requires filling the space with more functional convenience such as dual showers with body spray, tankless water heater to provide increased hot water use, built in seatand hand sprayer, shampoo shelf within reach of seat, water sealed can lighting. All of which increases the cost of fixtures, material and labor.
