Futuro Futuro Kitchen Range Hoods Unless there's a well-concealed downdraft, it looks like the cooktop is not vented.

Using a range hood, especially one that's ducted to the outside (as opposed to recirculating, or "ductless"), is always a good idea. Not only will it remove the smoke & grease, but an outside vented range hood offers several health benefits that may not be immediately obvious.

Do keep in mind that often we and our clients do a lot of searching to find a very special slab for their projects, as was the case here.
