Chalk paint kitchen makeover

Beautiful black distressed finish on these kitchen cabinets hand painted with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. Notice even the stained glass inset got a facelift! The outdated wood grain Formica countertops got a custom hand painted faux granite finish. What an improvement!

The cabinets are Graphite with both clear and dark wax. I also added the Artisan Enhancements Clear Top Coat.

The countertops have an Old White base coat and then layers of colors in varying saturation and combinations applied with a sponge and some even "puddled". Country Grey, Old White, Pure White(for tinting not as a color alone), Coco and French Linen were the colors used. I ignored the warning and used the AS Laquer as a top coat. I would use an epoxy sealer if I painted Formica again.

The glass insert was painted on the back side with Florence, Duck Egg and a custom mix of Provençe, Aubussen and Florenece. Then I put dark wax in the front of the glass to accent the texture of the glass and age the color of the paint showing through.
