Roman Shade Variations: Closeup of dowels across face.

In this closeup, you can see the small pleats created on the face of an otherwise flat Roman shade. This type of Roman Shade often uses the wood slats from the bottom of roller shades across the face, but I prefer using round dowels. This allows for minimum interruption of the pattern, but gives the shade some structure and rigidity as well as dimensionality when it is lowered. It's simply more interesting and prettier than a plain flat Roman shade, for most fabrics. Child-safe shrouded cords on the back keep this window treatment safe for all visitors.
