Located in the center of Manhattan, the original Pennsylvania Station was one of New York's architectural gems, a breathtaking example of Beaux Arts design and craftsmanship. In this gorgeous photograph, the train shed and main waiting room are the focus, with the elaborate ironwork backlit by sunlight and shadows. Demolished in 1963, this station was photographed in all of its glory during a high point in train travel.
