Leslie Rohrer The above is Astilbe chinensis 'Visions' with Hydrangea 'Endless Summer.' This garden is in northern Indiana, but the Astilbe is hardy zone 4-8 (New Orleans is a zone 8b - the bottom edge of the astilbe's hardiness). It prefers shade and consistently moist soil. Hope that helps.

Meanwhile, back at the Rake-A-Lot Ranch It helps me! I live in zone 6 and have a mostly shady lot with moist soil. Unfortunately, my hydrangeas have black spots, a kind of fungus, I think.

It lasts but a day, but what a day it is.The Endless Summer hydrangea is the first hydrangea to bloom on old and new growth, with the ability to rebloom all summer long. I planted my Endless Summer in 2005. To encourage reblooming, cut the blooms for drying or to put in vases for a fresh arrangement. This will also encourage the plant to set new buds.Prune rhododendrons and azaleas right after flowering.
