What is the tiled circle called, created on the floor? - Hi, we're putting light tile in our entryway and I want to get rid of the rug that is under our large glass entryway table in the rotunda. What I want is something pre-made---tile---that doesn't look too ornate or look like a compass (inside the tile circle). What are those tile "rugs" called? »

Less is often more. This foyer does not feature paint or furnishings. The medallion inlay in this marble floor is the superstar — big and whimsical in black and white.
4. Multiple floors and large staircases. Prior to the influence of the French, most standard homes in Mexico consisted of a single level — ranch style. I like the idea of a swag on the bottom of the single rail (on the stairs that are behind the walls - the second half of the stairs going up). Can you make this out of iron or is it a fabric cord?
