robert kelly The backsplash tile is 2x5 Suprema, glossy white, from Art tile. (510) 547-8288. It is on the pricey side at $17SF. A similar tile, Horus Broadway Latte, 2x6 from import tile (510) 843-5959 is about $8 SF. The pattern works fine with a $3 SF DAL tile, K101, 3x6 also.

Beautiful stand alone island. I wonder if by shrinking it down a bit we couldn't really open up the kitchen? Not sure how to handle the step up then into the living room from the kitchen side of the island right in front of the fridge, but turning the peninsula into an island would surely make the kitchen feel bigger and allow better flow with multiple people.
