Peter McDonald Architect You instincts are right. Darker tile should have darker grout.

K B Definitely go with darker grout. I did two bathrooms in Dal Tile Fabrique Noir Linen and used a dark grout (and grey walls). They look gorgeous. I would be wary of any other design advice your contractor gives you as he has missed the mark on an easy question.
