How did you get power to this drawer? - Do you have an outlet in the drawer? What happens to the cord when the drawer closes? Do you use a power strip? How wide is the drawer?
We are doing something like this, but what we did was to make the drawer front so that it drops-down. That way our kids have a worksurface plus a place for their laptops and ipads. Trying to figure out power now. Thank you. »
flyfisherman When pulling the drawer out from the back, either the cord to the computer as an example, gets straightened as its attached and then when the drawer is pushed back, it drops back behind the drawer. Where does it go? Could it get pinched between the drawer back and the wall? Am I being clear?
A drawer is a great spot in which to tuck all of these little electronics. Install a power strip at the back of the drawer and leave room behind the drawer for the main cord to move with the drawer.
4. Sort everything.Give your drawer a good wipe-down.Put aside the items that belong in your catch-all drawer.Throw old paper (coupons that expired four years ago, baggage claim checks, ticket stubs) in the recycling bin.Toss the stuff that's as useless as hardened. Liquid Paper goes in the trash. Place the items that will be put away in new homes in the other box. Carry said box around and put everything in its new designated space.

For kitchen island bench -
a drawer with a bunch of charging cables built into it like this is a good way of hiding electronic crap while charging, keeping benches and general areas around sockets clear and clean. i like it.
