AV Architects + Builders That is a great question. The main sink, dishwasher and trash is just across from the range. This is perfect for a chef since nobody walk behind him/her while food is being prepared. There is another smaller sink on the side of the island w/ a dishwasher drawer and another trash pull-out for everyone else that uses the kitchen :) Is that helpful?

AV Architects + Builders This island is 6 ft by 9 ft - very large but this is what the client desired...she wanted to be able to "dish-out" all the food in one place when entertaining. The best part was the installation of the granite - not an easy task!!

I love this kitchen! Although it looks likethe island is a more espresso color rather than black. I'm not stuck on black although I think Lance might be. But, I do like having a darker, contrasting island color.
