counter top measurements - I love the island and would love to do it in my kitchen, but don't know if I have the space. What are the dimensions of the 2 countertops? (please provide height, width and length of both, if possible.) Thank you! »
Emily Hurley It's so hard to tell the dimensions in photos like this because of the angles. Often a wide angle lens is used as well, which further distorts it. If you love the look of it, I'd translate it and size it to fit your own space. It doesn't need to be exactly like this, but it can serve as great inspiration!
Deborah Costa typically the lower cabinets are 24" deep (although the pictured cabinets look shallower) and standard counter height 36". The length of the run shouldn't be longer than the length of your granite to avoid seams (generally about 8'). The raised portion is generally about 6" higher than the countertop or 42". The depth of the raised counter varies depending on space. You need a minimum 12" overhang for dining (16-18" is preferable).
Paul Anater That's not a granite counter at all. That's a mineral called serpentinite that's sold as a marble. Technically, it's not a marble but it behaves a lot like one. Look for Brown Amazon at a stone yard and you'll see what this material looks like in person.
