Maybe we could do the 2nd story like this? the boxy style + teak siding is really cool, but not sure if it would look the same if it was just a single 2-story box with a balcony. I think the offset garage on this one makes it look cooler

The symmetry, the use of grasses to give vertical interest, These plants don't use much water. The wood of the house, and concrete, is reflected in the garden/walkways. Its very restful and the green variations in the plants also adds interest.
