I'll address the furniture layout - By laying out furniture it is important to remember where the corridor area is and where the furniture/conversation areas are.

Delineate ample area to walk and also make clear where chairs/couches and tables will enable a guest to feel comfortable to sit and not feel like they're sitting in the middle of the corridor! :)
