coilqueen thank you so much for getting back to me, and so quickly. by the way, i completely stole your red bar cart idea. it looks so cool in my living - dining room. it is so unexpected and a great pop of color. so thanks for sharing that too.
mellie6666 Attached are the two sets off opposing windows of which I would like to hang the relic firearms (4 total) to reach side of the upper windows. I am seeking a unique way to display them by making them stand out as these are huge pine tongue and groove walls. Not sure if some backdrop would help. They need to be hung vertically- not horizontally.
The Cavender Diary OOOh Vertically...Beautiful windows BTW, just stunning. HHmmmm. I think a backdrop of sime kind will help them stand out , I guess like a plaque. Long and routed along the edges. Then you ony need a "puck" throught the trigger guard and under the butt. Does that make sense?
The Cavender Diary LOL! I didn't realize there were places on Earth without HomeDepot.....I suppose it is kind of a mocha coffee color...deep khaki, like a pair of work pants
The many details - I adore the "conscious clutter" of this space! It must be an art. Everytime I attempt it, either the OCD gets the best of me or everything just looks messy! Do you have any tips on how to achieve this overall effect? »
The Cavender Diary Our Edward Curtis Indian is printed on a scrim, I stretched him over a canvas covered frame. We got him at Ikea about 5 years ago. Wish I had bought a dozen, I could have sold them all by now.
The Cavender Diary I actually ripped these off a building my friend started her business in (it used to be a pharmacy)..but you can buy some options like these...read this...http://thecavenderdiary.com/2013/01/22/vintage-sign-letters/
The Cavender Diary What a great space!!! Love the green pendants and open stairs! It's such a warm inviting space. If I lived there I would cover it in river rocks..... You could always paint black to make it more contemporary.... Do you have a ceiling light directly on it? That can make a difference too.
Hope I've got a ceiling fan with lights that I can train directly on it. I like the river-rock idea, but don't know if other half will go for it. I was thinking of maybe darkening it with a deep gray and then painting stairs in a lighter hue? I'm so afraid of paint. Weren't you terrified to paint your fireplace, or did you just cover over someone's previously painted bad idea?
The Cavender Diary "Chief Sitting Bear" is an Edward Curtis photograph printed on scrim, We streched him over a custom canvas frame so he wasn't so see through...We got him at Ikea about 5 years ago and sadly they don't sell them anymore...but I have seen them on eBay a couple of times recently
The Cavender Diary Thank you, We just love our place too....The red "pops" weren't planned, they just happened slowly. .All the walls are Martha Stewart "Fawn"...they would have been a Ralph Lauren color, but sadly RL paint wasn't available in Dallas at the time .....
delormedesignsblogspot Thanks James. Unfortunately our Home Depot doesn't carry Ralph anymore either! But they will mix it in Behr or Martha. I still love Ralph colours myself. The Sherwin Williams we have can colour match really well-You may want to try a Sherwin Williams near you or another paint store that can match really well. I have kept all of the paint chips from Ralph-he really does have great colours. I have put you in my favourites so I look forward to what you guys will do next. When I first saw what you have done with your place I thought," That is some really great Cowboy Chic". And I mean that! It's like Southwest really updated. Inspires me to want to change some things in my place. I love the leather chair you guys bought-looks really great in the space. So good luck with the house!
The stuff in this Americana living room shares a theme and a scale (big). There are a lot of things in here, but every one of them was put there intentionally.
