I like this open kitchen because of the glossy cupboards without handles and the clean lines. For my kitchen I will not put in a sit at counter because it would cut into the dining room. I would like an elevated back to the island counter so that the clutter on the counter would not be seen from the dining room.

backsplash is chemically aged bronze with a clear sealer.

ok - here goes... love the offset spacing between the cabinetry and the wall - creates a nice separation. I would however go to the ceiling height - only due to dust. Also like the backsplash - dull/honed vs laquered/gloss of counter top and wrapping of teh defined space. Also appreciate the mimicry of form between the island/bar and the space.
