Start with one word or phrase. This should be fairly easy, so don't overthink it. What sort of homes are you most drawn to when you flip through the pages of a magazine? Let's say you are drawn to rooms with exposed beams, comfy seating and faded colors. Try to come up with a word or phrase that describes this look, without worrying about "official" definitions. For instance, you might dub the look "rustic," "Old World" or "Euro country estate."
4. Bowlful of comfort. Warm your hearth by using Nana's dishes to make a wall display. Lay out your arrangement on the floor first, then attach the dishes to the wall using plate hangers. A diamond is a nice overall shape to work toward, because it feels organic yet still symmetrical.
I like the color of this distressed wood, especially against white paint. This would be a beautiful color to use in Eric's office for the shelf color with a little darker floor or the floor color with a little darker shelving.
