What color should I paint the walls of a home office if the floor is natural white oak and the bookcases are cherry? Also, what color should the moldings be? Thank you Nannette »
bepsf I've never known a designer to look at the wood elements of a space and say "Oh, it's Cherry/Oak/Maple/etc - Therefore we must paint the room (blank)!"
What colors do you like? What inspires you? What artwork, rugs, views, etc do you have that you could use as color inspiration?
m29m12 Thank you for your response. I am very traditional and like to stay with the basic colors then add color here and there. I will certainly take your advice. Thanks, Nannette
Although fairly compact, the office is important to the couple and is a space they use daily as a sanctuary away from the kids. "What they love about the office is the floor-to-ceiling shelf space where they can keep their files and many books," Leung says.
2. Light, neutral colors. Not everyone gets a choice when setting up a home studio, and natural light may be sparse in your work environment. If so, banish the dark with light, neutral paint colors. This will brighten up your space instantly. The natural light that does come in will reflect off the white walls and help eliminate harsh shadows. White walls also make for a great blank canvas for adding colorful and interesting artwork and decorative pieces. This office would look much less inviting if the walls and cabinetry were darker.
