madelabunky Is it difficult to pain wicker? I've got a medium/dark color wicker that I'd like to lighten. Love the uniqueness of the antique wicker that you painted.
ADEENI DESIGN GROUP It is hard to get into the crevices, so spraying works better. But one has to be careful not to get paint build-up in certain areas. We always want our clients to have durability and quality. Therefore we recommend using professional painters that will thoroughly clean the pieces, use the most appropriate paint and give you a perfect finish.
Comfortable cushions for wicker furniture? - I want to live in a room like this. Can wicker seating be comfortable for a living area where you want your guests to linger and converse for several hours? How thick should the bottom cushions be? Are the throw pillows sufficient for the back cushions? »
ADEENI DESIGN GROUP Thank you for the kind compliment. I always feel that clients should invest in a high quality sofa for comfort alone. And believe me, high quality sofas are more comfortable and last longer. This is a sun room that gets much less use than a living room or especially a family room.
So I would say that if you are sitting on a sofa every day for a period of time a fully upholstered sofa will give you more comfort and support in the back. If you love the look of antique wicker than I would go with a down-wrapped foam core seat and fitted tightly-filled down back cushions that cover the entire back. Also depth and slant are key, and some of the antique wicker pieces are a little more shallow and upright, so you won't get that desired depth and slant. It is a decision between aesthetics and comfort basically. Or perhaps you only bring wicker in with the chairs and go for a really fully upholstered comfortable sofa.
ADEENI DESIGN GROUP It is an antique Moldavian floral kilim. You can still find them, but this one is particularly beautiful as it has a peacock in its design as well.
Traditional living room. Vibrantly painted wicker, a floral rug, skirted tables and striped fabric give an overall Dorothy Draper feel to this tropical room.
Rattan furniture isn't just for summer. Bring on the cushions and pillows in shades of red, cranberry, and hunter green for the winter months and add a thick area rug in complementary tones. An added bonus is that the padding provided ensures that the furniture is comfortable rather than stiff, a necessity for any sunroom.
Wicker; semitropical plants; layered, lush patterns; and a genteel, teatime feel. All the right ingredients for a cozy conservatory. Good Idea for Porch off the Master Bedroom
