What are the materials and sizes used in the waffle ceiling? - I would like to do the same type of ceiling in my house. could you please tell me the exact sizes of the material used?
ie is it a 1x4 for the flat parts.
on the inside of boxes was cove moulding used? if so what size?
Thanks »
vennyt The flat wood was 1" x 4"s and the detailed moldings were picked from a molding catalog whihc I believe was Architectrual Moldings in Miami. The molding can be anything you lke as long as the size fits the 1" height and the design. This was just a flat drywall ceiling with the wood applied right on top of it.
Ceiling height Please.. Thank you - I am interested in having a coffered ceiling, thin, as this one done in a new home ...concerned about the ceiling height..I would appreciate any input. Thanks so much

vellabadu Sandra, I am just wondering if you get the coffered ceiling you were looking for? I am in the same boat. My new home builder said, he can do three and half inch coffered ceiling to a 9 foot ceiling kitchen and breakfast area. I wonder how that look? Any ideas, please share.
Sandra Alger, CID, Fresh Ideas by Sandy Hi, The thickness of coffered ceiling, would only be l " thick, as ceilings are only 8' l "-even though the moldings on the windows, etc are 3 1/2. I believe it will look wonderful, different and expand the ceiling, as I am planning on having a lighter hue on the ceiling than the wall- and have loads of windows.
3 1/2 is fine..you have the height...I believe it is a preference...
