Shawn Lagemann It doesn't look like they have a vent hood, I will assume its because there is only the 1 short wall and the rest is open. Vent-a-Hood makes a grill vent hood for grills. Their ventilation is slightly different than regular vent hoods, lots of CFM without all of the noise. A vent hood needs to be 6" larger on each side of the grill and mounted no higher than 30" above to be effective. Make sure to follow the manufacturers directions on vent pipe to maintain air flow. Grill away.
Ronique Gibson In fact, most cupolas are purely decorative in modern day architecture. Some do allow venting for roofs, but most are for visual aesthetics.
Coco Torre Yes, the cupola was open and did help with venting but since the space was open, it really did not need it. It was open to allow the heat to escape.
We are building an outdoor covered patio with fireplace, coming out our back door we go down steps (3 feet) and are concerned about roof height as viewed from the house. Flooring will be 27' by 16'. How tall are these columns? How tall should we make ours? »
This is what I expect to see in terms of a modern cupola. It sits atop a single-level home. It is shaped to blend in with the home. And yet, the fact that it's a functioning cupola above a gorgeous outdoor kitchen definitely adds a hint of romance.
I like this. Not the brick, not the gray floor, not the ceiling blue color, but the square columns works with what is going on in the house. Like the ability to light the area as shown too.
