Futuro Futuro Kitchen Range Hoods Even though it is possible to use a "microhood" (combination microwave & range hood), it's not a good idea from the ventilation standpoint, for several reasons.

1.) Microhoods typically have very low-power blowers. 200 CFM is not going to make much of a difference, especially if you cook a lot. Average full-size (standalone) range hoods have at least 400-500 CFM, usually more.

2.) Microhoods are not designed with comfort in mind, and tend to generate noise in the 6-8 sone range, which is very uncomfortable.

3.) The filters on microhoods tend to be relatively thin, with 1-3 layers of mesh. This does not filter well, and tends to wear out much faster than the 6-layer, metal-framed filters on full-size range hoods.

Last but not least, microhoods don't offer anything in terms of design. With a full-size range hood, you have a choice of 100's of styles and designs, so you can outfit your kitchen with a "centerpiece" designer range hood that expresses your individual style. Chandani I agree with Shawn. Using a plain tile along with the accent tile will also make it look more finished. Try to keep the dimensions of the tile the same, though, otherwise it might look busy. Another slightly different option is to put the accent tile above the stove like you have it, but instead of it spanning he entire width of the stove and going up to the fan, you can do a rectangular feature above the stove and trim it with a finishing tile.... so that it looks like a framed picture.

Annie Thornton I love stainless steel work tables as well as stainless steel countertops for residential kitchens. This photo is a perfect example to show how a more rustic and traditional style kitchen can totally own the look without seeming cold or institutional. For more warmth, maybe wicker or more natural baskets could be a good choice.
