Paul D'Amico - Period Design Carrara marble must be sealed. This will help protect the surface from stains but eventually it might stain, especially if marks are not wiped soon enough. Nevertheless, I have bought this marble several times because I love it and hate granite worktops. Call stains patina and you will have solved the problem. My parents had a kitchen table with a Carrara marble for 20 years, it had stains and chips but it still looked beautiful.
