How much does partially exposing the pool on the hillside raise the cost? - Any value in butting the garage against the pool so you can use the roof as a pool deck? »
the construction zone, ltd. The costs will vary depending on the exterior finish materials but there is an additional fixed cost of forming the pool walls that you do not have in a traditional in ground pool.
dorthypacker Wow! This house and landscaping phoenix is spectacular! Thank you for posting this photo, it really inspired me to do something with my yard. I would love to have a pool in my backyard. How is this pool built? It looks like that water comes to the very tip top.
the construction zone, ltd. Thanks so much for your interest in the Brown Residence and our other projects.
The pool is clad in 3/8” hot rolled steel plate. The panels are mechanically fastened to steel hat channels that are attached directly to the shot-crete pool shell.
Here in the dry desert we do not need to too use “weathering” steel like “corten”. We can just let it patina naturally.

Weathered Cor-Ten steel forms the outer edge of this elevated pool. Its strong horizontal lines and chocolate brown finish echo the home's dramatic roofline. And its cool surface reflects the desert landscape, creating a dazzling contrast.
The rusted steel around the pool helps it blend into its desert surroundings and connects it to the architecture; look at the way it relates to the overhang in this photo. If you look closely at the pool, you can see a separate hot tub area on the right side, which is hidden beneath 1/2 inch or so of water. This way the plunge pool and the spa appear as one simple rectangular element, which is in keeping with the home's minimalist aesthetic.

INTERESTING IDEA --$$ PRACTICAL? ' separate hot tub area on the right side, which is hidden beneath 1/2 inch or so of water. This way the plunge pool and the spa appear as one simple rectangular element'
