How is it that you can put the wood that close to the fireplace? - Is this a special kind of fireplace that blows the heat away? »
Adrienne Chinn I worked with a fireplace specialist to design this correctly. The fire ridge is set back to the rear of the hole in the wall fireplace which is lined with stainless steel. It's far enough away from the wood that there's no problem. It's designed for the draft to go directly upwards -- it's more for decoration than for being a main source of heat.
