The wood is painted poplar. The tongue and groove material was a custom milled profile per our drawings. The side-walls of the cabinets are maple veneer plywood. The bench tops are eastern white pine.

Ceramic Decor Centre Ltd. The slate installed is California Gold 12x12. It does need to be sealed, however it should only need to be done every 1-2 years if a good quality sealer is used. Your sealer will also last alot longer if you aren't using harsh chemicals to clean the floor. The ph natural stone cleaner and hot water should be the only thing used to clean up any natural stone. If you love the look of slate, go for it! Nothing beats its natural characteristics.

justbuilding Cushman Design, Is tis really California Gold slate? Looks more like a gray slate, with quite a bit of clefting to me. Thank you for clarifying if you can,I love this look.
