The Wirschings' house is two stories. The main living space, including the backyard, is on the second level, built against an embankment. When you enter the house, the door to the right opens to the garage, and to the left is a large studio that Robert uses as an office.The entryway is a landing pad for the family's comings and goings. Jackets get hung on the Henry Miller Hang-It-All, while a white IKEA locker under the stairs holds shoes. Balls and athletic equipment are corralled in large black wire floor containers. The horizontal shelves are also IKEA.

The hooks add a sense of play to the area where this family stores all of its big toys.

I'd like the staircase in the little white room to occupy a small visual space and have useful space underneath, as in this photo. These stair stringers look like they're strong and possibly inexpensive, if mass-produced. These particular stairs may look too insubstantial, child-like and plain for our white room, but they may be available in various styles.

Great construction idea for site built stairs.

If we had stairs in white room, maybe they could bend like these. They'd start 2 feet left of the cupboard door and bend at the wall, to finish the ascent before reaching the entrance door to the room. Or, Phyllis had the idea of relocating the cupboard door from the little white room to the blue room. The cupboard would then go with the blue room, which would have a cupboard either side of the window seat.
