esgdesign I believe these are cherry cabinets. but is there a stain on them? They're beautiful, I love the low/no sheen look.

Thanks for your comments! Yes, these most definitely are custom made, although in this instance, the upper diagonal portion may just be serving as a design feature. We have done a second row of upper cabinets in other kitchens (and bathrooms, believe it or not), and we sometimes use a rolling ladder to access those hard-to-reach spaces. This beautiful space was designed by Malcolm Davis Architecture, and we have always admired Malcolm's brilliant space planning abilities... www.mdarch.net
