We have designed several projects in and around the San Diego area.
With any project that has some distance (1 hour plus of drive time - one way), we do like to incorporate as much technology (from e-mailing plans to Skype etc.) as possible to reduce the number of on-site meetings while still providing great communication (i.e.: design reviews etc.) through the design development.
By doing so, this manner of communication can simply reduce both parties drive time and of course the potential increase in fee(s) due to the required driving time required.
