Solid granite stepping stones, river rocks and moss make for a great texture change and path surface for this entry garden.

What kind of moss is used here? - Hi, I'm trying to soften the look of an outdoor patio that is currently all concrete. I was thinking of ripping it up and putting in stones like these and grass or moss or some sort of greens that won't get ruined by walking on them. Would this work? I have two small kids and I'm worried about doing all of the work and having them stomp around and killing whatever I try to plant. Any ideas or suggestions would be so greatly appreciated. Thanks! perrykate Wow! Thank you! I'm so sorry, I am so new to Houzz and didn't see these responses until now. It looks so beautiful, but may not work as it will be in a heavier traffic area. I just bought this house and the previous owner did concrete for a living - so it's a concrete jungle! Thanks so much for answering...Kate
After seeing your pics, you are right, not the correct application for your need. I see what you mean about a concrete jungle. Lay out your outdoor furniture as you would use it, look at the necessary circulation of the space to comfortable move about your pool deck. That should help you visually determine possible places to either remove a percentage of the concrete to allow for plantings to warm/soften the space.
Another way to go, is to install decorative pots and seasonal flowers/color to warm up the space, leaving the concrete in place.
Tough to determine without seeing it in person or having a more complete sense of the space, sorry!!
I'll post pics of my rear yard and pool space. I feel a pool should be within a garden space if possible and practical to balance the environment.
