Planning a Box Beam Grid can be a challenge. It should be symmetrical, centered about major focal points, and accommodate the lighting. Walkways should be flooded with light, while eating and work areas should have focused light, but not cast shadows from behind your head. This grid was planned and drawn onto the sub floor before rough electrical so that the recessed lights could be centered in the squares. For energy efficiency, all but the pendants are LED and the recessed lights are taped and sealed with spray foam to be truly air tight. Ventilation becomes very important in a tightly sealed house. This Kitchen has a 36" vent-a-hood in a custom enclosure to help control humidity and cooking odor.
