Lee-Hawk's challenge with this house was figuring out how to keep the beach vibe and warmth that came with the bones of the house and still satisfy her need for a modern, clean esthetic that was also sand, dog and child friendly. In the family room she uses a mix of styles, like the streamlined low credenza and the darker rustic cabinet. Both sit behind the sofas, provide storage and visually work well together. The subtle shimmer in the fireplace tile is reminiscent of seashells and brings in a natural beach feel.
Along with rosette blocks, bull's-eye plinth blocks are used at the edge where the baseboard joins the casing of the doorways in this Encinitas, California, waterfront home.
Perfect family room with a view- sand, dog and child friendly.
Plenty of storage, seating, worldly visuals and warmth. "The subtle shimmer in the fireplace tile is reminiscent of seashells and brings in a natural beach feel" This place will raise an amazing family!

light, light, and more light. natural materials with light and bright colors with some metal thrown in. not sure what style that is but I like it. Clean, calming.
I really like this open and airy room--especially if that is a fireplace/wood stove on the far wall. I can imagine this for the second-level family space.
