Showhouse rooms are always fun because it gives us a chance to do lots of off-the-wall things.
We were given the “Gardeners” room in the carriage house. Our concept changed the gardener to a “world traveled botanist.” The focal point of the room is a low African bed surrounded by a cocoon of linen drapery. The billowing drapery gives the room dimension. To carry the garden theme through, we added a Tibetan rug woven in a bamboo motif, outdoor chair, and lots of raw, natural texture. There’s a lot of style in this 10’ x 10’ space!
I actually saw this room. It was in a show house in Birmingham- Bloomfield Hills, Michigan several years ago. Both bedrooms in the Carriage house still stick out in my mind. This was the Gardener's room. The bed would be from the Senufo tribe, I suppose. You can see the stools on Ebay sometimes. There is one below, somewhere.
