Lewin Wertheimer I usually prefer no base or a tile base where I have tile floors and then a very simples painted wood base at stained wood floors.

TVCoverups Another solution to concealing your TV would be to use TVCoverUps. Framed art or panel provides the focal point & adds to the room's decor until it swings upward to reveal the hidden TV.
