Hi - it's one solid piece and it's automatic. They have a remote control because they don't need a keypad. it's a small property. The gate slides on a track to the right. You only need one motor for this, so it's less expensive than the double swinging gate.

Hi. Great questions: 1) yes, we did router each slot for each individual slat. 2) we sank every-other post prior to installation - otherwise slats wouldn't fit - 3) we used mortise. I hope this helps - not the easiest fence to build but it should last a long time.

The fence. It is made with IPE wood with Redwood posts. Each post is custom routed to fit the boards.
