Classic Homeworks The sink is a Rohl farmhouse-style sink (RC3018/WHT), Single Bowl. The faucet is also a Rohl.(U.4719L/PC), Bridge Faucet with sidespray & metal levers, Polished Chrome. With a farmhouse-style sink, you need to order a shorter under sink cabinet, but it is a typical cabinet with two doors. Hope that helps.
Classic Homeworks I'm sorry - I've searched our files high and low and we seem to have misplaced which color we used there. If memory serves, it is similar to Benjamin Moore's Marble Canyon #227.
Classic Homeworks Sure - there are pros and cons to soapstone; you just need to decide if it will work for you. It is similar to granite in that it will handle chemicals and heat. Soapstone is softer than granite and it will scratch and chip a little easier than granite, but not as much as marble. Our homeowners that have installed it have found it to have some scratching issues, especially with a gloss finish. Maintenance is similar to granite; they need to oil it about four times a year. It is typically about 20% more than granite in cost.
However, it is gorgeous in person and gives many of our kitchens that classic feel that our homeowners are looking for. We also like to use a honed (matte sheen) and/or a leathered (slightly undulating surface) finish to give it more charm and is more forgiving about showing scratches, etc. It ranges in color from greys to greens with varying amounts of light grain - the greener it is, the softer it is. And there are varying types that will handle the honing or leathering. Find a supplier in your area and you can pick the slab you like with as much or little grain as you like.
If you also look at our DeVries project (I've attached some pictures), we used a leathered finish on their soapstone and it is lovely. There is also an article on Houzz today (by chance) that covers soapstone a little more -
Lily Gahagan Since this is the only shot of the room, it's hard to say. It could be below the counter, or it could be on a wall to the right. Or maybe there's no microwave at all?
