Another creative idea: Map art! With all the travelling you do to exotic destinations you might want to put up a large map (like this one), but mounted on cork so you can put in colourful push pins to show all the places you have been to. Great conversation piece!!!
(Did I mention that I don't like fancy and elegant as much as interesting. The best pieces spark conversations.)
