Venue Builders This door was a bit of an "adventure". You could reach out to the fabricator - Art in Metal in Tempe, AZ for a concept of something functionally similar. There is a lot going on with this door that is not immediately evident from the photos. The door has a steel frame that is an integral part of the stone structure around it to deal with the moment reaction of the door. it's an 1,100 lb. door leaf.
Venue Builders The entry door was designed by Jon Bernhard, of Swaback Partners, and engineered and fabricated by Art in Metal in Tempe, AZ. There are some very complicated functions involved in this particular door that are not evident from the photos.
The main entryway is an inviting jewel box and makes the most of local materials and light. The entry door is constructed of 5-inch-thick mahogany panels floating between layers of laminated glass. A grid of 21 panels of onyx appears to float over the entry. During the day the sunlight glows through; backlighting provides a warm and inviting glow at night.
Dramatic entry, interesting glass offering a little privacy but good light and nice linear lines that go with window frames, door and rock. Cool front door
Really Like this Entry - Everything about it - Mahogany and Glass door, frosted glass side panels, translucent canopy for day backlit at night - perhaps using the indigenous lava and stone
