Johnson There is a lot of prep and layout before construction. This was a new construction home so we could locate the lights exactly were we needed them. First we decided on how big of a grid to use, then used alder wood veneered plywood first with 3/4" x 1" strips of alder (make sure all seams of the plywood are covered with the strips). We then, started with the longer strips of wood, finally filling in with the shorter pieces. Each of the shorter pieces needed to be measured separately to ensure a tight fit in the grid. Our finish carpenters are some of the best in the business, and without having competent carpenters this could have been a disaster. The finish was also painstaking. Glad you like it!
