Hydrangeas - How can I get my hydrangeas that are turning pink to turn blue. I've tried adding ph from the store to the soil but it did not work.
Thank you, yours are lovely! »
Michelle Hi Jennifer;
My soil is naturally acid, so almost all my hydrangeas have turned blue after a few years, as it has been the case with the ones on the foreground, to the left of this picture, that I planted five years ago This, without me adding any aluminum sulfate, as recommended by many specialists. Although, for some reasons, three of them, out of fifty seven, have remained persistently dark pink, even next to a deep blue bush, and some blue ones took a vibrant purple color, as shown in.the attached pictures Have you tried coffee grounds and pine needles around the plant? It apparently works. Good luck and thank for you nice compliment.
Michelle It's a Sutera Cordata, also known by the name Ornamental Bacopa. Easy to grow, it is in bloom all summer. There were probably five of them in this urn. I also use it as a filler, along with Lobellias, in hanging baskets and planters, as shown on the attached pictures. ( These pictures can also be found in my Ideabook: "A colorful garden all year round") .
motherbear Hydrangea 'Seemanii' is a rare and HARDY EVERGREEN climbing plant has been introduced from Mexico and is becoming known as the Mexican Climbing Hydrangea. The foliage is self clinging and has copper tones maturing to dark green making it ideal for covering sheds, walls, fences and screening from unsightly objects and neighbours! The flowers also are quite extraordinary as the buds are the size of duck eggs opening to beautiful scented flowers during the summer.
Washed denim. Blue is a cooling color — think of the sky and the sea and how they affect us. It can be difficult to use on its own, as it can bleach in strong sun and appear to recede in the garden against other colors. Here, the many shades of the hydrangeas blend, creating an amazing spring display.
