Love of the Lotus (Gold) - Hand Designed, Hand Framed Silk Embroidery Art

Silk embroidery art was invented in China over 2,500 years ago. This high quality silk art is created using embroidery techniques developed from the world famous Suzhou style of silk embroidery. Each piece contains over 100,000 stitches on average.

A metaphor for honesty and noble character, the lotus symbolizes maintaining one's purity against any test or environment. In radiant golds -- a noble color in Chinese culture -- the lotus petals are beautifully rendered to represent warmth and hope, while the use of 1/4 silk thread brings out the detail in the lotus leaves and its contrasting background. A perfect piece for autumn, the marriage of gold and lotus flowers subtly conveys the passing of time and impending arrival of the end of the year.

The title of this work is based off the classical Chinese essay, On the Love of the Lotus: "I love the lotus because while growing from mud, it is unstained."
