I worked with the contractor to suspend the TV using a series of long L shaped steel plates/brackets (bought at Ace Hardware) with holes running along the sides which were perfect for the screws. There are 2 brackets screwed into the back of the TV, one along the wall corner and one on the ceiling. The TV is hanging from a pulley and a medium-sized link chain - connected to the 2 plates on the TV back. There is extra chain hanging down so that you can raise and lower the TV depending what activity you are doing in the gym - using a carabiner clip. To be perfectly honest it smells like a gym to me which doesn't bother us given that's what it is. But I can say that the smell has never been too much or over the top so that we couldn't work out. It's 1/2" Rubber Gym Tiles in Glacier from Rubber Flooring Inc. These tiles are big at 4' by 4' each. They are also VERY heavy! They have proven to be quite durable, haven't moved an inch and are easy to clean. Color is essentially black with small gray specs in it, a smart choice to camouflage the dirt and sweat that is inevitable in a gym.
