Tara Bussema I did not design this home, I just covered it for Houzz. The owner is the designer. But I do not believe she painted the chairs...I believe she bought them that way.
Sandy mcgwire Hi, this fireplace would be in our "new build home", where the livingroom is open concept to our dining and kitchen. Our kitchen will have white cabinets, so I thought I would match them to the fireplace wall. Otherwise I totally agree to match the paint with the furniture. ps. the couches are not purchased yet.
Would it look ok to switch that fireplace for a flat screen tv & a50x14 fireplace? - Love, love love this living room. Could a person substitute 2 things instead of that fireplace? Say a 52" flat screen tv with a 50"x14" Linear Built-in electric Fireplace under it? Would that be too much for that white wall? I'd sure want to keep that gorgeous clock. So there would be 3 things on the white wall instead of 2. Sorry, long winded.
Thanks for taking the time to reply. »
Carolyn Albert-Kincl Design I've used the Dimplex 50x14" electric fireplace and it's fabulous looking. If you were to add it to this picture, you'd have some demo work to do to remove the old fireplace. I'd also remove the mouldings and go for a very clean lined look on that part of the wall, with the whole thing painted black, or possibly white. What you want is drama! The clock, TV and electric fireplace would be lovely with the white sofas and bright pillows.

keep coming back to this pic, Just Beautiful! What treatment would that be called on the ceiling? - Could you recommend a complimentary "bright green paint color" for one smaller wall in this room? Thanks »
Cynthia Taylor-Luce Something like Pittsburgh Paints 208-5 HEARTY HOSTA would be a bright option. It's similar in tone to the green tray in the foreground but a little lighter and less intense, which means it works nicely with the pale blue. 309-5 GUACAMOLE is a little greyed down and calmer if that's what you'd prefer.
As for the ceiling I can faintly see some lines in it, so it could be beadboard or it could even be a textured wallcovering with narrow lined texture through it. Hopefully the designer will enlighten us!
I love this room! Blues, greens, and white are my favourite colour combination. Very fresh and appealing.
camabea3 I would like to thank you for the information, nice to get a response from the website, sometimes it does not always happen, thank you again, Margaret
Center pillows?? - I love how the center pillows bring all the colors together. Can you please tell me where they/or their fabric are/is from? I love this room! »
Amanda and Blake love traveling the world and seeking unique pieces for their home. Their favorite place to shop is Australia's Eumundi Market. Amanda's favorite piece is the stone clock above the fireplace, from a trip to France. It weighs around 300 pounds and was made in 1932. The stone clock and fireplace serve as focal points in the room and draw attention away from the flat-screen TV. Black chairs: Ikea; couches and zebra ottoman: custom, On Holiday Design; curtains: custom; curtain fabric: Lee Jofa
Quick color change to white for these dining chairs and you have instant modern detail. I love the contrast of the chairs against the gray walls. This is what I would refer to as "soft modern." The modern lines are there, but they're softened by texture and slipcovers. Very California.
Gray. A popular color for modern and transitional interiors, gray is a unique neutral. I love a soft charcoal gray paired with creamy whites and beige. Try gray with a punch of chartreuse for a surprising combination that really works. This dramatic great room is painted in Dunn-Edwards' Baby Seal DE 6361.
