Lower level living space in Chicago
This contemporary lower level was finished to provide an entertainment center and a large work space as well as an inovative powder room. The powder room walls are laminated shoji-like screens to define the space. The ceiling treatment opens up the space and adds a contemporary feel.

While I'm not crazy about how much is going on here, I do like the idea of turning a stairwell from a hallway, into something that feels more like an entry way. It takes up more room, but it feels more deliberate.
