Deadra S Thank you so much! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this layout and design. I am wanting to take this first floor layout and add two bedrooms to it to make a one story home. Could this be possible and would you be able to design that? Thanks again.
Farinelli Construction Inc It is certainly possible to alter almost any plan to accommodate single story living, yes...We are flattered that you would consider us! Where are you located? We build in south central PA.
Is the color of the walnut floor depicted in the photo visually the same in person? - I'm wandering if walnut flooring sealed with Tung Oil looks like the picture or if it looks different due to camera lighting? I have been advised against staining walnut (will lose the natural beauty of the wood). Any suggestions...this is by far my favorite house on the houzz website...beautifully done! THANKS! »
Farinelli Construction Inc First off, thank you so much! The color appears a little darker in this image than it actually is. For a more accurate depiction of the color, feel free to check out other images from the Home-a-Rama album! This particular walnut appears darker than some due the 'smoke' accents that have been added to it. Staining walnut can mask the beauty of the graining, and due to the nature of the grain, can cause issues with uneven color distribution, creating a 'blotchy' look, although Black Walnut is not as prone to blotching. Hope this helps!
What color is the runner on the side board and where is it from? - I have a side board and think this runner would look nice on top. Can you tell me where you got it and the style / color? Thank you! »
Farinelli Construction Inc Hello! They are 3/4" walnut, no sapwood, un-steamed, square pegs, glazed to accent knots etc, sanded, installed, and finished with 4 coats of Tung Oil. Rehmeyer Wood Floors supplied the material.
Farinelli Construction Inc The arch opening is approximately 6 feet wide, and 8 feet high to the top of the arch (between the columns) the foyer itself is 10 feet at the highest part, down to approximately 8.5 feet on the sides. The wainscoting is approximately 42"
love this entry/don't you just want to go in? I do love a simple arch like the one shown on the left to enter dining room -- that said, the columns with the arch straight on and the really ornate woodwork is a bit much for a more casual elegant feel (and not to mention out of our price range)--another option would be framed openings with transoms
visual stretch, but this suggests the view you would have from your MBR vestibule 1, looking into the hall - wood paneling and the difinition of the spaces with the cased openings.
