TanCalGal What is your space like? I always go lighter and I am always happy with the result. But it depends on furnishings etc. In this kitchen, they wanted the blue and white dishes to be the main feature, so they painted the walls a yellowish. what is going on your walls etc? What is your style? What do you want on the walls? What is the color scheme of the rest of the house? How is the lighting in your room? You have to take everything into consideration. I like ceilings lighter than walls so they look higher, why would you want the ceiling to look lower? Not usually, unless you have very very high ceilings.
Nature's bounty. You don't have to do much to this traditional kitchen — it's plenty cozy already. But the orange winterberry wreath, peppering of leafy branches, pops of red from the cookware and orange-brown tone brought out in finish of the antique farmer's table call to mind the crowning holiday in fall: Thanksgiving dinner (and the morning-after breakfast).
