Are these Dura Supreme Cabinets? Can you please tell me what Door Style and paint? »
light over island - I too love the light over the island -- one of the replies refers to Seagull Lighting -- is that where the pendant originally came from, or is it from Quoizel? »
Karr Bick Kitchen and Bath The light has been discontinued. A number of people have tried to locate it. It was quouizel. They should bring it back. I could have sold it 1000 times since I posted this picture.
Karr Bick Kitchen and Bath the tops are grey soapstone on the island and the splash is a mix of white Dal Tile subway with a Sonoma Mocha Matte accent tile behind the range
Karr Bick Kitchen and Bath the light over the island is one of the most popular questions I get and I am sorry to say its been discontinued, many have try to find it. I have been called from all over and its just not out there anymore. the Hardware is from Schaub and is still available! That is the good news!
Cabinet door hinges - Would you please tell me what type of door hinge has been used on the cabinet doors? Building a new home and cabinet designer is having trouble finding the appropriate hinges needed. Thanks! »
jengro82 Thanks so much for your help, contacted the cabinet designer and these are the exact hinges he had purchased. He was unable to find them locally and had to order them online, that was the hold-up. It was a misunderstanding on my part.
Counter tops - I see you have grey soapstone on the island counter top but can you tell me what material you have used around the perimeter counter tops. thank you »
lanee0222 I'm just beginning to look at ideas for our kitchen overhaul remodel. I'm curious as to the reasoning for 2 different counter materials for islands & countertops? And/or 2 different cabinetry material for islands vs wall cabinetry. Is it purely style/design/fad related or something more? Thanks so much for your help.
Karr Bick Kitchen and Bath in this kitchen we just switched up the tops and it was purely for aesthetics, to keep it from being to repetitive....so the answer is most often for design, but sometimes you might switch a surface for utility reasoning. So for instance if you want to roll dough you want a cool marble, or you want to chop and cut you want butcher block, or you know you will have tons of oils or messy kids you pick quartz in a certain area. That's why you have tons of "why" conversations with a designer who knows what they are doing. They can guide you in the right direction. Good luck!
Karr Bick Kitchen and Bath Soapstone is not tough, its beautiful but not tough. I have it in my kitchen and you have to be able to live with the fact that a fork can dent it. I consider it part of the charm
what is the manufacturer of this hood? - I have a low ceiling (84") and want as short of a profile on the hood as possible, while still getting efficient venting for my six burner. »
acatbug Thank you, Karen Bick. I recently purchased a Wolf DF and when I asked my dealer about a similar hood, she could not locate one. I will look elsewhere.
How much space should there be between the island and the range and the sink? - The layout of my kitchen reno and size looks similar to yours. I love the location of the island and the overall look you have done. How much space should be between the island and the other 2 counters? I am trying to accommodate a 4 and 1/2 ft. by 3 and 1/2 ft island and have 3 feet between the island and the 2 counters ( range and sink ). Is that enough? »
rosecottagehome OK, I hear you. You are right, it doesn't hurt to ask anyways how much more an extra foot will cost. Like you said sheapeeps, I will never have this opportunity again ( my husband will second that motion!) As you all know, doing a major renovation to an older structure just seems endless with the details, adjustments and new issues that I know will come up as it is happening, the budget just keeps getting higher and higher. I will see where I can trim the fat in other areas. Example: replace arched header windows with long rectangular ones ( oh but I do love those arched ones ), or,no cultured stone on the wall behind wood stove ( yet, do it later), I think I may start a new thread on small changes to keep big reno budgets down. Thanks for the push for 42".
Who is the manufacturer of the cabinets? - What style are the cabinet door fronts? They're clearly custom, but I can't quite tell what the detail is on what looks to be a Shaker inspired cabinet? Thanks! »
Karr Bick Kitchen and Bath It did it was the cover of the special interest publication they do called Kitchen and Bath ideas. June 2012. I think you can still get a copy on amazon
behrycaj Thanks - I thought so. I LOVE IT! Is soapstone REALLY as bad as they say? I've been obsessed with it for years, but am afraid to put in to an active kitchen with two boys.
Karr Bick Kitchen and Bath I have the same tops with three kids under 4 years of age, you just have to be ok with some wear and age. It adds to the beauty!
Where can I find these cabinet pulls and knobs - I love the way you mixed the pull and knob styles for these cabinets. Very custom looking and not "busy looking" at all... what brand are these? I love it »
Karr Bick Kitchen and Bath The Siena would compliment what you have nicely. It would be a great choice for both the island cabinetry and the perimeter.
Similar Color for Cabinet Painting? - I am remodeling a house and saw this kitchen on the cover of Better Homes and Gardens. I love the color. I understand they are custom. Is there a color I could paint existing cabinets to get close to the custom color? »
Karr Bick Kitchen and Bath its very similar to a color called gray wisp 1570 by benjamin moore, this color has a shadow glaze over the top which hives it more depth than a straight paint however...
Also here's a small tid-bit about our glazes, our Shadow Glaze is applied over the Mineral paint finish to creat a subtle wash of color that creates a brush-stroke look and tints the basepaint color slightly. Along profiles and corners, the glaze highlights and accentuates the details of the cabinet door. With our "rub-Thru" finishes, the paint is sanded along the edges to create a time-worn, antiqued look. These finishes employ artistic, hand-applied finish tchniques tha texhibit subtle and unique variations.
Please let us know if you have any more questions about our paints and or finishes.
Littman Bros Lighting Here's a couple that are fairly similar (a bit more ornate), they are actually the same manufacture as what's shown in the photo.
bethann45 I totally agree with You Karr Brick Kitchen and Bath....now I have to see what I can live with in my budget and the pros and cons of living with 3 kids and a counter surfing dog!
Absolutely love the contrasting drum shade on the island and the lighting over the sink (although that one's not my favorite). I do love the drum over the island!
