Every little girl dreams of having a bathroom vanity like this, don't they? Well, our client decided she was worth every penny of it and it turned in to a dream come true for her. (Oh, and yes, her husband had his own (smaller) vanity on the opposite side of the bathroom...)
The cabinetry was custom built and includes a full sink vanity and separate makeup table. We got creative with the countertop corner cabinet which can be opened from either side.
The natural materials in the travertine floor, marble countertops, and handmade ceramic backsplash tile made this bathroom the pinnacle of elegance.

Could you tell me the manufacture of the mirror or where to purchase »
Is the corner cabinet custom? - I have an L shaped vanity area with a sink on one wall and sink and makeup area on the other. I am thinking about moving one sink so that both are on one wall and the other side is the make up vanity. »
Lovely bathroom! Do you feel the wainscoting, vanity and trim should be the same color or very similar? - Is it 42" wainscoting? I'm trying to figure out how to dovetail wainscoting and tile backsplash with a vanity -- wall extending about 4.5" beyond countertop on right side (to bedroom door frame) and putting a half wall on other side, possibly same distance out. I see how a flat edge on the counter helps. Thanks for your advice! »
Kirstin Havnaer, Hearthstone Interior Design, LLC Ooopsss..... forgot to answer your first question. I don't think that the vanity and wainscot have to be the same color. For example, one could be stained and one could be painted and it would look fine. It's hard to answer whether or not if both are painted if they should be a similar color without seeing your specific situation. If they're too close (say white vs. off-white) then it might look like an afterthought. But if one were white and say the other in another color then I think it'd be great. Hope that helps!
This is a pretty bathroom. What is the beige backsplash?
It appears to be part of the counter top. I would like to do this with a biscuit wall tile rather than white. Could you suggest an appropriate color marble top or quartz top?
Thank you. »
Kirstin Havnaer, Hearthstone Interior Design, LLC OK, well there's lots of options for countertops in that scenario. There are great options in natural stones, like marbles and limestones. But there are fantastic options too in quartzite slabs. You might base the decision on how the bathroom is used. Marble and limestone are porous compared to quartzite and need a bit more care long term to ensure they get sealed well. Things like toothpaste can etch the polished surface of natural stones if allowed to sit for a period of time. So if you have kids or are a so-so housekeeper I'd steer you towards quartzite because it's pretty indestructible.
On the floor I'd highly recommend a porcelain tile rather than a ceramic or natural stone, again due to the ease of maintenance. What other colors will you be using in the bathroom?
pholloway I would think that quartz is a better option. It is only me and my husband but I don't want to have worry about staining the CT plus I like things to look new. I'm with you on the porcelain floor too. The bathroom is small 6 x 7 and I want to use a shower curtain and Kohler villager bath tub since it fits well in our space. This only leaves a 6 x 5 space for the toilet and vanity which are on one 60 inch wall to the left as you walk in. Other problem is my ceiling is low - only 7 feet 4 inches. I was thinking of tile half way up outside of tub but it may make the ceiling look lower. What do you think of painted walls? Color wise, my house walls are mostly BMoore cameo white or linen white and I have wide plank, golden knotty pine floors with brown/red knots. It is a simple colonial so simple raised panel doors or even shaker style doors go with the house. I would love to get this bathroom done!
suzyscuderi Hi, this does indeed look like Devine paint, color is Almond. I have Almond in my Master Bedroom and am using it in the Mbath remodel with cherry shaker cabinets. Almond and another color in that line called Steamer look GREAT with dark cherry wood cabinets and also with gunstock (so it is a good color to make your trim look good if you have an older home). Devine is also thicker than the average paint and very easy to work with. I used it in my house and throughout my former home. Love the product. Good Luck!~
not sure that I like that the make up desk will butt up against a plain panel - what does it look like underneath? If it is dead space can I not have the triangle cupboard all the way down to the floor?
