This Superior Woodcraft kitchen provides many uses - cooking, dining, storage and entertaining. It even has a fireplace. This kitchen incorporates many colors and materials. Notice how much utility is designed into this space: wine cooler, custom made kitchen table, chopping block table and storage areas in the kitchen island and the built-in wall hutch.
Given the many different colors and materials that are utilized and how much utility is present, it is amazing how this kitchen still has a very clean and open feel to it.

Can you tell me the dimensions of the island-table hybrid? Also, was the the table custom made? Thank you! »
Here's a table-island hybrid. No two rooms and no two families are alike, and an island that morphs into a pub table may be just the thing for a household with older teens. Tables encourage face-to-face interaction instead of side-by-side interaction. That's a subtle but important distinction.
I like the pub-table attached to the island as an alternative to a kitchen table. We don't have little kids anymore and this might be a nice alternative to a table.
table and island combo. think about either resurfacing exisitng pub table with similar top as island, and placing it perpendicular to the islad, and this way keep the island on the smaller side. My table has storage capability that can be utilized, drawers and wine storage.
we could have a basic island (say 5' x 4') then have a counter height table that we could push up to it and then pull away when we need more seating. Extra stools could be kept against DR wall
Dimi, check out this table-island hybrid. This is what I have in mind only the L shape is reversed. I think it is very forward thinking and versatile design.
like the extension of the counter into a dining table

This requires higher than normal chairs, but they would also work at the desk area if that were raised to counter height and also at the penisula counter if the table were moved
